Laying strong foundations
Y2 - Y6 CORE COURSE
COURSE DESCRIPTION
What are Core Courses?
The Core Course is the foundation upon which your child's learning is built upon. The teacher guides the students through each of the following subjects, ensuring they understand the topics and cover any questions they may have. These subjects include:
-
Mathematics
-
English / Reading / Writing
-
Aptitude Skills (from Year 2)
-
Thinking Skills (from Year 3)
These subjects form the key learning areas for all primary students and are the main course offered Mr Paul's Tutoring.
English lessons cover reading comprehension in all forms which include essay writing, vocabulary, and spelling exercises which are given every week.
Mathematical lessons cover all areas such as algebra, problem-solving and numerical problems.
Thinking Skills lessons train students to use mental and cognitive processes to problem-solve, reason, infer and hypothesize. This is a new component of the Selective Placement Test and Opportunity Class Placement Test.
Aptitude Skills lessons give students an in-depth understanding of general IQ-based topics which increase mathematical abilities, language skills, memory, reasoning skills, and information-processing speed.
